Turn off your KitchenAid dishwasher completely and then move it out at least 12 inches to give you room to work on the entire unit.
Use a socket wrench to remove the 1/4-inch nut from the lower front panel, which will release the unit from its cabinet.
Use your hands to carefully lower down the front legs on the unit, and then pull the dishwasher from below the cabinet.
Remove the 5/16-inch nut from the rope guide, and then insert the new rope guide that you've purchased. The rope should attach to a new spring and then you can attach the spring to the dishwasher.
Close the dishwasher door and then pull the spring to relieve some tension. You then need to repeat the same process for the other side of the unit.
Use your socket wrench to insert the 5/16-inch nut back into the rope guide.
Lift and tilt the dishwasher unit back onto its feet and push it, carefully, back below the cabinet. You may need to adjust or relevel the dishwasher to make sure it fits into place.
Use your socket wrench to insert the 1/4-inch nut back into place in order to connect the dishwasher to the cabinet.
