How to locate the Pan drain in the attic

How to Locate the Drain Pan in the Atticthumbnail Sometimes the HVAC units of home is in the attic. Some installers HVAC or air-conditioner opting to install air conditioning system in the attic. To overcome problems of condensation of water, it installs a tray, and a drip line extending outside the home. The drip line allows water draining from the drip pan. If the drip line, water will clog up the drip pan and might cause the water to spill onto the floor and through the ceiling which is located below the attic. If this happens, you must locate the tray in your attic, so you can clean the drip line.Difficulty: moderately Easy1

Go out and find the line to drop out of the attic. Often the drip tube is a rigid PVC plastic pipe and in other cases, the drip line is a metal tube. Draw the line from the ground up to the point where it enters the attic. Take a mental note of place-for example, as part of the House on what is the approximate location and how it relates to the center of the wall.

Go into the attic and locate the wall where the drip line extended up through and into the attic. Use a flashlight to help you if the attic does not have a lighting system installed.

Trace the drip from the wall to the HVAC units or air conditioning. The drip line gives the drip pan. The drip tray resting under the large metal coils, which resemble large finned radiators.
